Program Objectives
The MSc Economics is a distinctive two-year program imparting instruction and training to effectively address the need for economists in the both the public and financial sectors. The program design ensures instruction in core subjects in economics besides offering students a choice of specializations. Current specialization options are:
- Finance
- Development Economics
Note: Specialization option will depend on student interest and staff availability
The program targets students seeking further education and enhanced training in economics and finance, in addition to acquiring the capability to conduct and evaluate research in aforementioned subjects. The program aims at ensuring that students acquire indepth subject knowledge and relevant skills to successfully pursue careers in a variety of sectors including NGOs, academics, consultancies, government, and the financial sector.
Degree Requirements
A student of MSc Applied Economics is required to complete 66 credit hours of study. In the final semester, students will be required to complete a major research project with 6 credit hours. The normal duration for completion of the MSc Economics program will be 4 semesters, over a period of 2 years.
Eligibility for Admission
Candidates with BA, BSc, B.Com, BBA or equivalent qualification and having atleast second division, securing 45% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply. Qualifying the admission test and interview is compulsory. Candidates scoring less than 40% marks in test or interview will stand disqualified for admission.
