Entrepreneurship Development Center (EDC) as inaugurated in 2008 with the objective to bridge the gap between academia and industry. EDC has been working for the promotion of Entrepreneurship in the region by adapting different methods. One such step in the field is to link up interested candidates with local, national, as well as international bodies promoting entrepreneurship. This not only inculcate the spirit of entrepreneurship in them but, also, providing them a platform to establish their businesses in future. EDC as a cradle of entrepreneurship is involved in promoting entrepreneurship in the region with a global vision.

EDC Objectives:
The main objectives of the Entrepreneurship Development Center are as follows:
- To develop entrepreneurial skills in young graduates so that they can establish their own business.
- To establish Industry- Academia Linkages.
- To create entrepreneurial culture in the region by imparting incorporating entrepreneurial knowledge.
- To be the part of policy development process for entrepreneurial activities.
- To establish business incubation centers.
Scope of Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC):
Entrepreneurship Development Center (EDC) claims to be the change agent in the region and for that purpose it considers its role both in the social and corporate sectors.EDC position itself in the following two areas of entrepreneurship:-
- Social Entrepreneurship: EDC finding itself at unique cross-roads of industry and academia that aims to initiate activities which will have positive impacts on the society overall. For that purpose EDC collaborate and coordinate with many stakeholders to bring new solutions to the old social problems. Further to promote “active citizenry” among the youth the 'EDC' plays as an active player and diversify its core activities to take them a step forward.
- Corporate Entrepreneurship:Economies around the world, developed or underdeveloped rely on the small and medium enterprises to provide employment and earning opportunities to the majority of the people. Despite its importance 75% of these small businesses fail due to lack of managerial capacity. EDC knowing the importance of SMEs aims to develop a close liaison with the industry and SMEs, especially to enable a sustainable development of this sector.
Considering above stated social and corporate entrepreneurial themes the following thematic areas are set to be performed in by Entrepreneurship Development Center (EDC) of IMSciences:-
- Capacity Building Trainings: Capacity building trainings through professional workshops, and seminars related to entrepreneurship activities.
- Incubation: The objective behind incubation is to promote young entrepreneurs to the level of self-sustainability. During incubation young entrepreneurs must be considered and treated as strategic partners to EDC and later a source of professional linkages to industry.
- Business Plan Development: Developing business plan is an important element that could not be ignored while having incubatees on board. Those incubatees who have brilliant business ideas but have lack of commercialization skills to promote or launch their products/services needed to re-address through EDC help. In this regard EDC will work along incubatees to develop business plan in detail.
- Intellectual Property Right Facilitator: Many of our students and incubatees come up with brilliant product ideas that could be commercialized only if they are protected through intellectual property office of Pakistan. In this regard there is a need to create awareness among students and incubatees. To register patents, facilitation will be offered in collaboration with ORIC to incubatees before disclosing their ideas to industrialists. This act of EDC and ORIC will ensure the right of our incubatees in industry during commercialization phase.
- Promotion: EDC also need to promote the business and patent protected ideas of incubates in the industry. In this regard, expos (exhibition) all over the Pakistan will be arranged under the umbrella of EDC to reveal its entrepreneurs and their products/services to grab the attention of venture capitalists or strategic business partners.
