Introduction
The discipline of Social Sciences is concerned with society and the relationship and interactions among people within a society. The study of social sciences equips people with tools to improve understanding of the issues related to people and society, and to explore solutions to their problems. It helps in the evolution and approaches toward problem solving. Knowledge of social sciences broadens one’s horizons and enables him/her to analyze key social concepts.
Program Brief
The program offers a range of courses. In the first three years fundamental courses of social sciences are offered, followed by different courses from Management Studies and Development Studies pathways. The most significant feature of the program is to provide students with knowledge and education in areas that are relevant to their interest and career goals. The pathways offered will facilitate the students to pursue their careers in the fields of business, academia, media, journalism, corporate sector, social sector, government and non-governmental organizations, besides others.
Degree Requirements
The BS Social Sciences program is of a 4 year duration, spread over 8 regular semesters, and consists of 130-136 credit hours of studies. The normal duration for completion of BS Social Sciences Degree is 8 semesters over a period of 4 years. The maximum duration for obtaining BS Social Sciences degree shall be 7 years.
Eligibility for Admission
FA/FSc or Equivalent qualifications with at least second division, securing 45% marks in aggregate.
Qualifying the admission test and interview is compulsory. A candidate scoring less than 40% marks in the test and interview will stand disqualified for admission.
Candidates who have secured at least 40% in the Institute’s own test/NTS-NAT or any other test required by HEC are also eligible to apply.
The merit of a candidate shall be measured by a 50 % weight age to the marks obtained in HSSC or equivalent, 40 % to the marks obtained in the written test, and 10% to the marks obtained in the interview.
A candidate shall be given a special credit of thirty marks for admission in each program mentioned above if he/she has studied Economics / Psychology / Computers / English Advance and Home Economics at intermediate level or has done A level.
A candidate shall be given a special credit of sixty marks for admission in each program mentioned above if he/she has studied Economics/Psychology/Computers/ English Advance in combination with each other or in combination with Statistics at intermediate level or has done A level business studies.
The Hafiz Quran shall be given a special credit of 20 marks.
The credit marks shall be added to the marks obtained at HSSC or equivalent, subject to fulfilment of basic eligibility criteria of 45% marks
